Odysseus Dies at the End
After The Lightning Thief, I was preparing to take a small break from acting to focus on playwriting and costume design. However, the universe had other plans. Members of the local theater non-profit, Exit Pursued by a Bear, had come to see a performance of The Lightning Thief, and they messaged me on Instagram with an offer for a role in Odysseus Dies at the End, an original play by Weston Scott. I quite honestly had no idea what I was getting into, but of course I said yes. Being welcomed into the "Exit Family" and getting to perform unconventional, free theater has helped me to remember that so much of what we do as actors and playmakers is because we love it. Not for the profit, or the grand stages, or the fancy technology. Sometimes it's just you, your cast, the director and playwright, and a couple dozen audience members on an outdoor stage in the middle of nowhere that makes theater.
